I Rewatched All the Conjuring Universe Movies in Order Chronoconjurlogically

Sound it out, yes, it’s a word I just made up. Now say it 10 times fast.

When James Wan brought The Conjuring into my life in 2013, he immediately jumped to the top of my Horror director favorites. I had already known about him from Dead Silence (a movie I enjoy a lot more than the 21% rating it got on Rotten Tomatoes) and Insidious. But something about how The Conjuring was shot and how the plot was framed and progressed stood out to me like it was on another level. I was hooked into the Conjuringverse.

James Wan also directed Furious 7 – another of my favorites from the 2Fast2Furiousverse. But it’s no Tokyo Drift. And it’s a little different of a vibe from the rest of this article.

From the Annabelle spin-off trilogy to The Nun and The Curse of La Llorona, it’s been essentially a new movie added to the Conjuringverse every year since. Some great, some forgettable. You can look at the Tomato Scores and pretty easily figure out which ones James Wan was just a fleeting Co-Producer on, and which ones he was captain of the ship.

I had seen The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2 about 5 times each. Maybe 2 of the Annabelle’s – but couldn’t remember. Every time a new movie is added to the Conjuringverse I wish we could have a Horror-Universe on the same scale as The Avengers with some of our favorite horror icons going head-to-head, fighting for possession of the countless small towns of victims – all within the same Universe. One day. Until then I guess I have Cabin in the Woods and Freddy Vs Jason.

The Rewatch in Chronoconjurlogical Order

Here we go! I’ll give my rating and comment on whether I think it’s a necessary addition to the arching overlapping story within The Conjuringverse.
